We have coupon codes now, but I have added this feature to the developers list of enhancements.

I would love to have this feature as well! Right now, the customer (or gift giver) has to call me, request a gift certificate, send me a check and I email out a gift certificate once payment is received. Not the worst system in the world, but how great would it be to be able to purchase a dollar amount toward classes from your own computer? If a coupon code was generated per gift, that would be wonderful! If not, we, the business owner, could create a coupon code and email it to the giver. The ability for a giver to add to their "cart", or purchase from their computer is the feature I think many of us would appreciate. Is this something others have requested? Just curious.

I also would LOVE to have this option.  I like to promote this at Christmas time as a way of giving an "experience" instead of a physical gift.  Right now the process is very cumbersome because the giver cannot "enroll" the child.  It would be so great if the purchaser of the gift certificate could tell the website how much to give and then get an automatic coupon code assigned!  Ah - that would be wonderful!

I use the coupon codes for gift certificates. It's very easy! I have people pay via check or Paypal, and I create a coupon code good for one use and put it on the gift certificate. Here's an example.

Thank you, Elina, I can make coupon codes, but what I don't understand is how they can pay through the website without registering for a class?  How do they just choose an amount?

I have them use Paypal, which notifies me if someone makes a payment, or they can mail me a check. It's sort of a workaround, but at least they don't have to go through a registration process.

Elina,  You are so nice to help me with this and I have some other questions: I have set up a Paypal account to use, but how did you get the PayPal button on your website?  Also, what program did you use to create your certificate?  Thank you so much!

    Hi Heather,

I used fireworks for the gift certificate but I think there are more user-friendly graphics programs now. (Fireworks is made for web graphics and the only reason I use it is because I learned it when I had a more techie office job). You might even be able to do it pasting together some screen captures and cropping them in Word. If you want something particular or need a graphic altered to fit your center, I can do it for you.

I got the button on my website by screen capturing the graphic from the PayPal website. On a mac, Command+shift+4 turns your cursor into a crosshair and you can drag it to enclose the graphic you want. It saves to your desktop. I can't remember how to do it on a PC. I uploaded that graphic and added  it as a link using the YV website interface.

Let me know if you have trouble or need any more help!

Elina, Thank you so much for your help.  I was finally able to get the PayPal button on my website and add a Gift Certificate page!  This will change my life :)!

I think I will probably just have to do a simple Word document for my gift certificate.  I don't even know what Fireworks is!  I was hoping you used a template from the YourVirtuoso website that I might be able to use, too.  Thanks for all your help.
