Here's my initial thought on it: I'd like a drop-down at the top that says, "sort by" -select-, "then by," -select-. Options could be location, city, teacher, and (only if applicable) class type. It's important to be able to sort by city instead of location name because the location names may not mean anything to people. It would be even better if they could change "sort by" to "show only" to give them added flexibility.

I'd be happy to discuss/brainstorm this to flesh out details!

It may be best to limit the number of options the user has to set/select to make it simple to use. That's always a compromise of course.

It seems to me that the family know what age group they need, but may have some flexibility on location. It would be nice if we could use some familiar user interface techniques also, and make it mobile friendly. How about selecting a class type (or age, age group) and asking for a zip code. We could show locations nearest that zip code and click or tap to see the class schedule.

    Yes, I see your point.

I'd prefer to let them skip selecting a class type in studios where only one class type is offered. I think 90% of Music Together is mixed-age family classes, and the majority of studios only offer those. (Although you're in a better position to have that information and I may be wrong.)

I like letting them enter a zip code. I'd also like for them to be able to select a day, since many parents work three or four (or five) days a week and can only attend classes on certain days.

Do you think most people are familiar with being able to click on column headers to sort by a criterion? I have no idea, but I like the feature.

I still think that clickable column headers on the class schedule table would be the simplest way to help families find what they're looking for. It's also widely-used enough that people are likely to figure it out.
